The Barry Butler Memorial Trophy is named after former the Canaries skipped who sadly died in a car accident in 1966.

Norwich City’s chairman at the time, Geoffrey Watling, presented the club with the trophy.

It was to be awarded annually to the player chosen by supporters as the club’s ‘player of the season’ and it was intended that the process perpetually commemorate Butler.
